Growing your own fresh herbs at home is easier than you think—but it does take a little know-how. Whether you’re a first-time plant parent or looking to refresh your green thumb, these five simple tips will keep your basil, mint, and rosemary happy and productive.
1. Give them the right light
Most herbs love sunlight. Place your plants near a bright window that gets at least 6 hours of indirect light daily. No sunny window? A small grow light works wonders for urban spaces.
2. Don’t Overwater (Thanks, Self-Watering Pots!)
The #1 cause of dying herbs is overwatering. With our self-watering system, just refill the reservoir every 7–10 days, and let the plant do the rest. No guesswork, no stress.
3. Harvest often (it helps them grow!)
Don’t be shy—regularly snipping leaves encourages bushier growth. For basil, pinch off stems just above a pair of leaves. For rosemary, trim sprigs as needed for cooking.
4. Rotate your plants
Turn your pots every few days so all sides get equal sunlight. This prevents plants from leaning toward the light and keeps growth balanced.
5. Feed for flavor
A little organic liquid fertilizer every few weeks will keep your herbs tasting their best. Stick to low doses to avoid overwhelming your plants.
